What is the quickest DIY mehndi decoration?
About ₹350 and one hour. Drape a cream dupatta or sheet behind the seat, pin 1 kg of marigold strings along the top (about ₹100 to ₹160 wholesale), run one fairy light string (about ₹200, Amazon.in) and line the floor with cushions. Put a small table with water and a straw beside the bride.
What should you avoid at a mehndi decoration?
Four things. Strings that brush the bride's hands, because wet henna smudges. Loose petals on the floor near her seat, which stick. A high swing or a seat without back support for hours of sitting. Glitter and sticky tape within reach of drying henna. Leave about 3 feet clear for the henna artist.

Frequently asked questions
How much does mehndi decoration cost at home?
About ₹900 to ₹1,100 to do it yourself with 3 kg of marigold, 1 kg of roses and two fairy light strings (Lucknow wholesale rates, 1 Oct 2026). Decorators list simple mehndi set-ups from about ₹1,200 to ₹1,999 in Lucknow, depending on what is included.
What is a simple mehndi decoration at home?
A low seat with cushions, a cream drape behind it, marigold strings on one side and fairy lights. That is the corner where the bride sits for hours, so decorate there and leave the rest of the room plain.
Which colours suit a mehndi decoration?
Green, orange and pink are the classic palette, and soft pastels (blush, sage, cream) are the current favourite. Keep one cream or white base so the bride's henna and outfit stand out against it.
How much do mehndi decorators charge in Lucknow?
On 1 Oct 2026, MV Events listed ₹1,200 per pack (inclusions vague), 7eventzz simple mehndi decoration starting from ₹1,499 and a mehndi backdrop starting from ₹1,999. Our home mehndi corner starts at ₹1,299.
Can the mehndi and haldi decoration be the same?
Yes. Many families keep the cream drape and the marigold strings and swap the accents: yellow cushions for haldi, green and pink for mehndi. It saves a second backdrop, and a day apart the flowers are still fresh.
